Master Classes

Through our masterclass programme, we offer music students the opportunity to work with some of the world’s best performers and access to some of the world’s best orchestras, choirs, singers, and instrumentalists.

Performers from our International Concert Series & National Symphony Orchestra Season lead classes with music students and emerging professionals.

Violin Concerto Master Class with Maxim Vengerov and the National Symphony Orchestra

Please note you will need to provide your musical CV along with a link to a recent recording/video. If you are still in an educational institution, your teacher will also need to provide a brief reference.

Deadline: 5pm, Sunday 11th February 2024
 
Three violinists will be selected for this master class working with Maxim Vengerov and the National Symphony Orchestra on Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. Each participant will be assigned a movement of the concert to prepare. This master class is aimed at high level students and young/emerging professionals.

20th February: Renaissance and Baroque Performance with David Adams 

Well-known recitalist and teacher David Adams, Professor of Organ at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, will present a workshop on music composed between 1500 and 1800. The workshop will focus on questions of articulation, registration and general interpretation, and participants will benefit from David's expertise in the performance of early music. Organists of all levels are invited to participate, and are welcome to bring along copies of scores as samples for discussion, or simply to observe.  

12th March: Romantic and 20th-century Music Performance with David Leigh 

David Leigh, Pipeworks Artistic Director, will present a workshop on organ music composed between 1800 and the present day. As a renowned exponent of the works of Reger, Vierne, Messiaen and many others from this period, David will offer valuable advice on stylistic issues and questions of registration. Organists of all levels are invited to participate, and are welcome to bring along copies of scores as samples for discussion. This is an informal workshop, and so participants are welcome either to play short excerpts or to observe.

In 2020 we launched a series of online masterclasses, taught by some of Ireland's finest musicians.
 
Each masterclass was live streamed on the National Concert Hall’s Youtube and Facebook channels giving aspiring musicians access to tuition and further development.
