A highlight of Dublin’s annual cultural calendar, Culture Night at the National Concert Hall offers a vibrant and accessible musical experience designed to welcome new audiences while delighting seasoned concertgoers with National Symphony Orchestra Ireland, and the critically acclaimed British saxophonist Jess Gillam, MBE as guest soloist, all under the leadership of Alexander Shelley. A charismatic and exciting performer and broadcaster, Jess was the first ever saxophonist signed to Decca Classics, and made history as first
saxophonist to reach the finals of the BBC Young Musician Competition ten years ago.

From Bernstein’s sparkling Candide Overture, one of the most cheerful and accessible of his orchestral works, to Kati Agócs’ Shenanigan,“a hoedown whirl of symphonic fun...a burst of party energy" (The Toronto Star) and Anna Clyne’s Glasslands, drawing on the mythical creature the banshee, to Augusta Holmès’ enchanting La nuit et l’amour and the cinematic brilliance of John Williams’ Star Wars, the programme blends iconic favourites with contemporary works. A ‘musical tasting menu’ designed to delight, surprise and inspire.
