Jóhann Jóhannsson Drone Mass

Festival of Voice is a weekend festival celebrating the power, beauty and universality of the human voice.

Experience Jóhann Jóhannsson's mesmerising Drone Mass, with Chamber Choir Ireland and Crash Ensemble. Two of Ireland's leading ensembles join together in a mesmerising soundscape of voices, strings, and electronics.

Drone Mass isn’t really a mass. It’s a mysterious and richly atmospheric work inspired by ancient Egyptian Coptic hymn.

The late Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson was a singular talent, as celebrated for his theatre and film scores (including Arrival and Sicario) as for his orchestral work. Since his untimely death in 2018, Drone Mass has come to be regarded as the Icelandic composer's crowning achievement.

Following the enormous success of the sold-out Irish Premiere presented by Kilkenny Arts Festival and subsequent national tour, Crash Ensemble and Chamber Choir Ireland now bring this iconic work to the National Concert Hall under conductor Gabriel Crouch

Presented by NCH and supported by IPUT Real Estate Dublin
