The National Concert Hall is delighted to welcome back the Dublin Song Series this Spring. Curated by pianist Dearbhla Collins and presented by the NCH, the series sees her join three acclaimed vocalists in separate recitals honouring the work of Viennese composers and others. All concerts, which take place in the NCH’s Kevin Barry Recital Room, include songs by Franz Schubert, the late Classical and early Romantic composer who composed more the 600 vocal works (largely Lieder) during his short lifetime.

The first event on Tuesday 21st March sees the Irish debut of acclaimed British baritone Sir Simon Keenlyside who joins Dearbhla for songs by Schubert, Wolf, Duparc and Fauré. On 28th March Scottish tenor Nicky Spence makes his debut for a performance which explores settings of Shakespearean texts by Purcell, Haydn, Schubert and more. The final recital on April 5th showcases the talent of Cork mezzo soprano, Niamh O’Sullivan, and features the moving song cycle Frauenliebe-und-leben by Robert Schumann and some of Schubert’s most beloved works.

The series is curated by award-winning pianist Dearbhla Collins. She is best-known as a song pianist and performs recitals with singers such as Benjamin Appl, Patricia Bardon and Tara Erraught. Dearbhla is a vocal coach at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin and Head of Artistic Administration at the National Opera Studio in London.  Since 2005, she has been the Executive Artistic Director of the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition in Dublin.
