SWEENEY TODD IN CONCERT - FULL CAST ANNOUNCEMENT

Prepare for a Night of Musical Theatre Excellence at the National Concert Hall

We're thrilled to announce the extraordinary cast that will bring Sondheim's masterpiece to life in this unique concert presentation with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.

Leading the Cast:

Sweeney Todd: Rob Houchen

Rob Houchen takes on the iconic role of Sweeney Todd. Fresh from his acclaimed performances in Titanique at the Criterion Theatre, South Pacific at Chichester Festival Theatre and Sadler's Wells, and City of Angels at the Garrick Theatre, Rob brings his powerhouse vocals and dramatic intensity to Sondheim's vengeful barber. A true lover of Sondheim's genius catalogue, Rob considers it "a real honour to bring this role to life with this incredible team."

Mrs Lovett: Anna-Jane Casey

Anna-Jane Casey stars as Mrs. Lovett, the resourceful pie shop owner. With over 40 years of professional experience, Anna-Jane's recent triumph as Fraulein Fritzie Kost in the award-winning Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club alongside Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley, plus her iconic turn as Sybil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers at the Apollo Theatre, makes her the perfect choice for this complex role. Her extensive experience with Sondheim and musical theatre, combined with her ability to blend comedy and darkness, promises a truly memorable performance.

Introducing Our Talented Young Company:

Rachel Reid (Donegal Town) brings her beautiful soprano voice to Johanna Jeffrey. Currently studying Music Performance at Trinity College Dublin/RIAM, Rachel impressed audiences as Ariel Moore in Footloose and has shown remarkable range across productions from Percy Jackson to West Side Story.

Andy Armitage (Stillorgan, Dublin) takes on Anthony Hope. The MTU Cork School of Music student recently starred as Dwayne in 9 to 5 at the Everyman Theatre Cork, directed by Killian Donnelly, and continues to build an impressive classical and contemporary repertoire.

Eoin Daly (Knocklyon, Dublin) embodies the sinister Judge Turpin. A Trinity College Film Studies student making his fourth National Concert Hall appearance, Eoin's recent starring roles include The Baker in Into The Woods and Reverend Shaw Moore in Footloose.

Ciarán McKenna (Belfast) brings continental flair as Signor Pirelli. A Mountview Academy graduate with West End and international touring experience including Fairytale of New York and The Little Mermaid, Ciarán adds professional polish to this rising talent showcase.

Isaac Casey (Waterford City) rounds out the principal cast as Beadle Bamford. The Trinity College business and politics student, who graced the National Concert Hall stage in the Feis Ceoil Prizewinners' Gala 2024, returns with his distinctive character work.

Completing the Ensemble:

Meg Kathleen Hardy (Ratoath, Meath) doubles as the Beggar Woman, bringing her TU Dublin Drama training and natural comedic talents (nominated for Best Comedienne in The Addams Family) to this haunting role.

John Cathcart (Enniskillen, Fermanagh) appears as Tobias Ragg. The Royal Academy of Music graduate and Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholar, fresh from Shrek the Musical and Spring Awakening, adds his classically trained voice to complete this remarkable ensemble.

In addition, more than 68 young actors will join the company in Featured Ensemble and Chorus roles.

Anthony Gabriele conducts this ambitious concert production, leading the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland through Sondheim's intricate score.

Séimí Campbell directs, bringing his extensive experience in both traditional and innovative musical theatre productions to create a unique concert experience.
