The National Concert Hall is thrilled to announce two exceptional concerts as part of its ground-breaking Perspectives Series.  Thursday 20 November sees a thrilling one-off double bill by two acts at the vanguard of the folk revolution, ØXN and Richard Dawson. Then on Monday 13 April 2026 revered pianists Maki Namekawa and Thomas Enhco bring their formidable skills to bear on Keith Jarrett’s legendary Köln Concert.

Comprised of Radie Peat (Lankum), Katie Kim, Percolator’s John ‘Spud’ Murphy and Eleanor Myler, OXN’s star has been steadily in the ascent since the release of 2023’s stellar album CYRM. The album received a five-star review as The Guardian Folk Album of the Month, #4 in The Guardian's Folk Albums Of 2023 and a five-star review in The Irish Times who hailed it as a 'modern masterpiece'. Impressively, the experimental doom folk outfit were the first band to sign to the legendary Claddagh Records label in 18 years. Mesmerising songs such as ‘Love Henry’ and ‘Cruel Mother’ channel their collective talents with sublime results.

On the night they share the stage with acclaimed progressive folk singer-songwriter Richard Dawson. His singular, experimental style has gained him a loyal following over the course of eight extraordinary albums, most recently this year’s warmly-received End Of The Middle. Fearless in his research and willingness to follow his inspiration, Dawson has created an impressive catalogue of music and storytelling steeped in both ancient myths and contemporary dread.

On Monday 13 April 2026, two inspired pianists from different musical spheres, Thomas Enhco and Maki Namekawa, together tackle Keith Jarrett’s legendary album The Köln Concert (ECM, 1975).  The performance encompasses two artists and two approaches: the classically trained Namekawa will endeavour to faithfully reproduce the transcription of the concert from the recording and jazz pianist Enhco will offer a new improvisation based on the original melodic framework. In doing so, the two pianists will present a reinvented work that aims to perpetuate the atmosphere of the now iconic concert.

Maki Namekawa is one of the leading pianists of her generation, who has earned a unique reputation for her commitment to four centuries of great piano music with a concert repertory that is broad, colourful, and ambitious, ranging from neglected masterpieces by J.S. Bach, Mendelssohn, Berg, and Guarnieri to new works. Thomas Enhco is a pianist and composer in jazz and classical music who has achieved international recognition, recording for labels Verve, Deutsche Grammophon and Sony Music and performs over 100 concerts per year globally.

Tá lúcháir ar an gCeoláras Náisiúnta dhá cheolchoirm eisceachtúla a fhógairt mar chuid dá Shraith Peirspictíochtaí ceannródaíocha. Ar an Déardaoin 20 Samhain, beidh taibhiú dúbailte speisialta ar siúl ina mbeidh beirt ealaíontóirí mór le rá i réabhlóid an cheoil tíre, ØXN agus Richard Dawson. Ansin, Ar Dé Luain, an 13 Aibreán 2026, seinnfidh na pianódóirí iomráiteacha Maki Namekawa agus Thomas Enhco an albam cháiliúil The Köln Concert ó Keith Jarrett.

Tá ØXN comhdhéanta de Radie Peat (Lankum), Katie Kim, agus John ‘Spud’ Murphy agus Eleanor Myler ó Percolator. Tá a gcáil ag dul i méid go seasta ó eisíodh a n-albam CYRM a bhfuil glacadh maith leis in 2023. Rinneadh athbhreithniú cúig réalta ar an mbailiúchán mar Albam Tíre Caomhnóra na Míosa, #4 in Albam Tíre an Chaomhnóra in 2023 agus athbhreithniú cúig réalta in The Irish Times a thug 'sárshaothar nua-aimseartha' air. Is iad an banna an chéad ghrúpa a shínigh leis an lipéad cáiliúil Claddagh Records i 18 mbliana.

Ar an oíche, roinneann siad an stáitse leis an amhránaí tíre-amhránaí cáiliúil Richard Dawson. Tá a stíl uathúil, thurgnamhach tar éis leanúint go dílis air le linn ocht n-albam urghnácha, an ceann is déanaí i mbliana End Of The Middle. Gan eagla ina chuid taighde agus toilteanas a inspioráid a leanúint, chruthaigh Dawson catalóg shuntasach ceoil agus scéalaíochta atá sáite i miotais ársa agus in eagla comhaimseartha a bhuaigh croíthe go leor.

Dé Luain, an 13 Aibreán 2026, chuaigh beirt phianódóirí spreagtha ó réimsí ceoil éagsúla, Thomas Enhco agus Maki Namekawa, i ngleic le halbam iomráiteach Keith Jarrett, The Köln Concert (ECM, 1975). Cuimsíonn an taibhiú dhá cheoltóir agus dhá chur chuige: déanfaidh Namekawa, atá oilte go haicmeach, iarracht trascríobh na ceolchoirme ón bpianódóir taifeadta agus snagcheol Enhco a atáirgeadh go dílis agus tairgfidh sé tobchumadh nua bunaithe ar an gcreat séiseach bunaidh. Agus é sin á dhéanamh, cuirfidh an bheirt phianódóirí saothar athchruthaithe i láthair a bhfuil sé mar aidhm aige atmaisféar na ceolchoirme íocónaí anois a bhuanú.

Maki Namekawa ar cheann de na príomhphianódóirí dá glúin. Tá aithne uirthi mar gheall ar a tiomantas do cheithre chéad bliain de cheol mór pianó. Tá a stór ceolchoirme leathan, saibhir agus uaillmhianach, lena n-áirítear saothair nach bhfuil chomh cáiliúil le JS Bach, Mendelssohn, Berg, and Guarnieri to new works. Is pianódóir agus cumadóir é Thomas Enhco i snagcheol agus ceol clasaiceach a bhfuil aitheantas idirnáisiúnta bainte amach aige, ag taifeadadh do lipéid Verve, Deutsche Grammophon agus Sony Music agus ag seinm os cionn 100 ceolchoirm in aghaidh na bliana ar fud an domhain.
