NCH Landmarks continues with two exciting concerts by domestic luminaries Jape and Pillow Queens. On Sunday 14th September Jape revisit two defining chapters of their musical journey with a live performance of Cosmosphere (2003) and Ritual (2008). Then on Tuesday 21st October Pillow Queens perform their critically-lauded debut In Waiting at NCH to mark the fifth anniversary of its release. These concerts are part of the NCH landmarks Series which sees leading Irish artists perform landmark albums and music from their career.
Jape began as the solo moniker of Richie Egan – formerly of Redneck Manifesto - and has evolved over the past 6 years into one of the most exciting live acts in Europe. Cosmosphere, Jape’s beloved first full-length album, marked a significant step forward in Egan’s artistic evolution, showcasing a raw, introspective sound. In contrast, Ritual — widely regarded as Jape’s most critically acclaimed album — erupts with energy and confidence. The track ‘Floating’ from Ritual was covered by The Raconteur’s Brendan Benson, which led to Jape supporting the band on a slew of global dates. A winner of the Choice Music Prize, Ritual cemented Jape as a major force in Irish indie and electronic music. The band are currently finishing their 4th studio album in Sweden.
After forming in 2016, Pillow Queens released a series of well-received singles before breakthrough debut In Waiting. Since then, they have received much acclaim from domestic, UK and American press, played numerous sold-out gigs at home and abroad and even appeared on James Corden’s US TV show. After signing with Canada’s Royal Mountain Records, they released a follow-up album, Leave the Light On in 2022, touring the UK, US and Europe extensively, including shows at Austin’s SXSW and supporting Phoebe Bridgers in Glasgow. Their most recent album is the revered Name Your Sorrow (2024).
The Landmark Series began on Tuesday 29th July when Mick Flannery performed his album Evening Song on the NCH Main Stage to mark its 20th Anniversary.

Leanann NCH Sainchomharthaí ar aghaidh le dhá cheolchoirm spreagúla ó na daoine cáiliúla baile Jape agus Pillow Queens. Dé Domhnaigh an 14ú Meán Fómhair, tabharfaidh Jape cuairt arís ar dhá chaibidil chinniúnacha dá n-aistear ceoil le léiriú beo de Cosmosphere (2003) agus Ritual (2008). Ansin ar Dé Máirt an 21ú Deireadh Fómhair, cuirfidh Pillow Queens a gcéad albam, In Waiting, a fuair moladh mór ó na léirmheastóirí, i láthair ag NCH chun comóradh cúig bliana a eisiúna a cheiliúradh. Tá na ceolchoirmeacha seo mar chuid de Shraith sainchomharthaí an NCH ina bhfeictear ealaíontóirí Éireannacha móra le rá ag seinm albaim agus ceoil cheannródaíoch óna ngairmeacha beatha.
Thosaigh Jape mar leasainm aonair ar Richie Egan – a bhí le Redneck Manifesto roimhe seo – agus le 6 bliana anuas tá sé tagtha chun cinn mar cheann de na gníomhartha beo is spreagúla san Eoraip. Ba chéim shuntasach chun cinn in éabhlóid ealaíonta Egan é Cosmosphere, an chéad albam lánfhada is ansa le Jape, agus léirigh sé fuaim amh, machnamhach. I gcodarsnacht leis sin, tá Ritual — a mheastar go forleathan mar an t-albam is mó moladh ó Jape — lán le fuinneamh agus muinín. Rinne Brendan Benson ó The Raconteur clúdach ar an rian ‘Floating’ ó Ritual, rud a d’fhág gur thacaigh Jape leis an mbanna ar roinnt dátaí domhanda. Buaiteoir Dhuais Cheoil Rogha, dhaingnigh Ritual Jape mar fhórsa mór i gceol indie agus leictreonach na hÉireann. Tá an banna ag críochnú a 4ú halbam stiúideo sa tSualainn faoi láthair.
Tar éis dóibh a bheith bunaithe in 2016, d’eisigh Pillow Queens sraith singlí a raibh an-tóir orthu sular sheinn siad an chéad albam, In Waiting. Ó shin i leith, fuair siad moladh mór ó na meáin baile, RA agus Mheiriceá, sheinn siad go leor giganna díolta amach sa bhaile agus thar lear agus bhí siad fiú le feiceáil ar chlár teilifíse James Corden sna Stáit Aontaithe. Tar éis dóibh conradh a shíniú le Royal Mountain Records Cheanada, d’eisigh siad albam leantach, Leave the Light On in 2022, ag tabhairt camchuairte fairsing ar an Ríocht Aontaithe, sna Stáit Aontaithe agus san Eoraip, lena n-áirítear seónna ag SXSW Austin agus ag tacú le Phoebe Bridgers i nGlaschú. Is é an t-albam is déanaí acu ná an t-albam measúil Name Your Sorrow (2024).
Cuireadh tús leis an tSraith Sainchomharthaí Dé Máirt an 29ú Iúil nuair a sheinn Mick Flannery a albam Evening Song ar Phríomh-Ardán an NCH chun a 20ú comóradh a cheiliúradh.
