Friends Events

We offer our NCH Friends an exclusive programme of social, music and cultural events throughout the year. Bookings can be made through our dedicated Friends office. Please contact the Friends office on 01 408 6777 or email friends@nch.ie

Monthly Coffee Mornings  

On the first Wednesday of each month, Friends are invited to the Iveagh Room of the Terrace Café to meet with fellow Friends. This is an opportunity to chat, find out about upcoming Friends and NCH activities. Coming up:

Music Club 

Six Tuesdays, beginning 16 January, 11am -12.30pm, Iveagh Room, Terrace Café. 

Music Club led by Professor Gerard Gillen, discusses repertoire featured in upcoming NCH concerts. Different pieces are explored every week, and each session takes place in the Iveagh Room of the Terrace Café. Complimentary beverage included.  

Friends €100 for six sessions. 

  

Tour of St. Stephen’s Green

Thursday 21 March, 2pm (Meet in NCH Foyer) 

Enjoy a private guided tour through St. Stephen’s Green with expert guide Donal Raynor as he talks us through the flora and fauna as well as the history of the park including its role in the 1916 rising. The tour is followed by tea/coffee in the Iveagh room of NCH where you can catch up with fellow Friends. Meet in NCH Foyer at 2pm.

Immersive visit to the Book of Kells with lunch in Hugo’s restaurant 

Wednesday 10 April, 11.30am  

Join us for a private tour of the new immersive Book of Kells experience. This fascinating visit is followed by a two-course lunch with a glass of wine or soft drink in Hugo’s restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal in good company. Meet at the Long Hall entrance, Trinity College at 11.30am.

Wexford Opera and NCH Friends Spring Concert

Thursday 11 April, 7pm.  

Join us for our annual Wexford Opera/NCH Friends special concert for a spectacular evening of operatic performance.  Entitled ‘A Taste of Wexford’, the concert will preview pieces from this year’s festival’s three operas, performed by Wexford Factory Artists.  The performance will be followed by a wine reception in the John Field Room and promises to be a very special evening.

Friends International trip to Riga

 23 – 28 April (FULLY BOOKED)   

Friends of NCH journey on an international musical adventure as we depart for beautiful Riga in April. Situated at the mouth of the River Daugava, the charming city of Riga offers much to be explored. This is a city offering a myriad of architectural styles. Spires of dark, gothic churches tower above the shadowy cobblestone streets below. Explore hidden delights and the medieval streets that makes up the Old Town, including the striking Powder Tower - home to the Latvian War Museum.

Kildare Street Museum tour followed by two course lunch in The Terrace

Thursday 9 May, 1pm tour, 2.30pm lunch 

Take a trip through Irish history as we go on a private tour of the Kildare Steet museum and experience the past through its artefacts and stories. Following the museum visit join us for a Friends two course lunch with glass of wine/soft drink and tea/coffee. Meet in Museum of Ireland Foyer, Kildare Street (beside Dáil Eireann) at 12.45pm.  

Friends €50, non-members €60 Euro, (please note there is no charge for the tour but donations are accepted at the end, €5 recommended) 

  

West Wicklow Festival, Russborough House

Saturday 18 May, 11.30am   

Join us for a classical day out in West Wicklow as we attend an early evening performance of Quatuor Arod. This award-winning quartet will be performing Haydn, Attahir and Beethoven at an intimate chamber concert in Russborough House. Prior to the concert, enjoy a three-course meal with a glass of wine/soft drink at Tulfarris House with private coach hire for the day. Meet in NCH car park at 11.30am

Friends Tour of the National Concert Hall

Thursday 13 June, 2pm 

Take a private tour of the National Concert Hall and learn about its history, architecture, art and of course music, go backstage and explore the nooks and crannies of a building with a fascinating story to tell. Afterwards join fellow Friends for tea or coffee and a chat on what is an enjoyable and social occasion. Meet in NCH Foyer at 2pm.
