Four Seasons Chamber Music Series: inviting audiences on a journey through the seasons, with music exploring themes of light and shadow, water and ice, and the passing of time.

British-Sri Lanken Baritone, Armand Rabot, invites us to feel alive in this celebration of the human experience. A programme of protagonists, this is a concert of many stories; fables of boatmen in Schubert’s settings of Mayrhofer’s ‘Erlafsee’ (Lake Erlaf) and ‘Der Schiffer’ (the boatman), lores of love in Hugo Wolf’s settings of Mörike texts, and cautionary tales in Liza Lehmann’s Henry King and Charles Augustus Fortesque. This recital is full to the brim with natural imagery, symbolism, and emotion, reminding us of the many seasons we go through as part of human existence. From celebrating life in ‘Der Pilgrim’, to feeling oppressed by cold mists in ‘Sehnsucht’ (longing), ‘Cautionary Tales’ promises an emotional roller-coaster from start to finish.

The Artists

Armand Rabot is currently a member of the Bayerische Staatsoper Opernstudio, having previously been a member of the Aix-en-Provence Festival Académie in 2025 and a YSP at the Salzburger Festspiele in 2024. His notable performances range from Mendelssohn’s Paulus at Wakefield Cathedral, to Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Spires Philharmonic Orchestra, and Elijah with Birkenhead Choral Society. He is also a frequent collaborator with the Liverpool Bach Collective. In the upcoming season, he will appear in a Schubert lecture-recital alongside renowned pianist Graham Johnson OBE at the Salle de Musique de Chambre, Philharmonie Luxembourg. He returns to the Southrepps Music Festival to perform the role of the Ferryman in Curlew River, and continues his collaboration with the Bayerische Staatsoper, where he will sing Tom in a new production of Die englische Katze, the Kaiserlicher Kommissär in Madama Butterfly, Ein Cappadocier in Salome, and Male Consort IV in the world premiere of Of One Blood. He also appears as the Hunter in Rusalka with the Liverpool Philharmonic.

Rabot is accompanied today by Dearbhla Collins, one of Ireland’s finest pianists. She is most well known as a song pianist and performs recitals with singers such as Benjamin Appl, Patricia Bardon and Tara Erraught. She also regularly works with Dame Ann Murray and Brigitte Fassbaender. As well as being vocal coach at the RIAM, she has recently been appointed Assistant Head of Music at the National Opera Studio, London. Dearbhla has curated the three song recitals as part of this chamber music series.
