Irish pianist, Rachel O’Hara, returns to the National Concert Hall to present a lunchtime recital of some of the great works of the piano repertoire. Rachel hails from Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow and is a recipient of numerous national awards, including the prestigious Lucien and Maura Teissier Scholarship of €10,000. She has performed at many national and international venues, including the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, and most recently gave a solo recital in the John Field Room at the National Concert Hall.
Haydn’s sonata in E minor was published in the late 1700s. Its expressive depth and structural innovation showcases his mastery of classical forms. The four-movement Suite bergamasque follows; this is one of Debussy’s most renowned works and features the beautiful Clair de lune. Finally, the romantic and captivating fourth sonata by Alexander Scriabin brings the recital to an ecstatic close.
