Rachel O'Hara Piano Recital

Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109
Johannes Brahms: Three Intermezzi for piano, Op. 117
Lowell Liebermann: Gargoyles, Op. 29

Irish pianist, Rachel O’Hara, returns to the National Concert Hall to present a lunchtime recital of some of the great works of the piano repertoire. Rachel hails from Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow and is a recipient of numerous national awards, including the prestigious Lucien and Maura Teissier Scholarship of €10,000. She has performed at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, and gave a solo recital in the Kevin Barry Room at the National Concert Hall in 2023.

Beethoven’s Sonata in E major, Op. 109 showcases the depth and majesty of his late piano writing, while its lyricism and intimate character draws the listener in. Three introspective intermezzi by Johannes Brahms follow, described by him as “three lullabies of my grief”. Some of the most beloved of his piano compositions, these personal works strike a reflective note. Finally, the tempestuous and menacing Gargoyles by Lowell Liebermann bring the recital to an exhilarating close.
