The original invitation to stay at the Bates Motel is not to be missed as we revisit Alfred Hitchcock’s classic Hollywood horror film, Psycho, in concert. Bernard Herrmann’s iconic, shivers-down-the-spine score is performed live by National Symphony Orchestra Ireland, conducted by Anthony Gabriele, renowned for his work as a Musical Director in London’s West End and as an acclaimed movie music specialist.

A unique opportunity to see one of cinema’s most admired films and hear one of its greatest soundtracks in the spine-tinging flesh. Herrmann’s self-styled ‘black-and-white score’ is a masterpiece of menace, mystery and madness sculpted solely from string instruments. The result is one of cinema’s most emotionally pulverising experiences. 

Best known for his long association with Alfred Hitchcock, Bernard Herrmann was one of film’s most distinctive and revolutionary composers, his work ranging from Citizen Kane to Taxi Driver.

Channeling Stravinsky, Bartók and Debussy, his score for Psycho changed the sound of Hollywood films and has charged the pulses of audiences for 65 years. A knuckle-whitening, adrenaline-fuelled ride from the lowering chugging bass voices of the opening theme to the slicing string blades of the notorious shower scene, it’s an exhilarating helter-skelter of emotions at their most extreme.
