Since making his Southbank Centre debut in 2019, Phillip Leslie has been praised for his sense of “culture and refinement” (Liszt Society) and described as “a real artist” by the Keyboard Charitable Trust. He has performed across the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden & France including performances at Salle Cortot, Steinway Hall, Palau de la Musica, St John’s Smith Square, Göteborgs Konserthus, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Castellon Auditorio, St John’s Smith Square, Teatro di Marcello, Bridgewater Hall & the Wigmore Hall.

An Emerging Artist for the Usher Hall during their 2023/24 season, Phillip has received numerous awards including prizes at the Liszt International Piano Society, Vrsac International Chamber Music Festival, Anton Rubinstein & Gothenburg International Piano Competitions. A former Park Lane Group Artist, he was a recipient of the Weingarten Prize, Silver Medal Keyboard Award and Sir James Caird award during his studies at Trinity Laban, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Royal Northern College of Music & L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.

Making his first appearance at the National Concert Hall, Phillip begins with a selection of Debussy’s subtle, yet highly evocative Preludes before the dazzling and  exuberant L’isle Joyeuse. One of Schumann’s most inspired creations, the Humoreske is an elusive, large-scale masterpiece. In a letter to Clara Schumann in 1839 regarding the piece he says, “I’ve been at the piano all week, composing and writing and laughing and crying, all at the same time”.
