VARO are Dublin-based duo Lucie Azconaga and Consuelo Nerea Breschi, singers and fiddle players who share a deep-rooted love of Irish traditional music. Hailing from France and Italy respectively, their musical paths converged in Dublin, where they’ve been crafting rich, harmony-driven arrangements influenced by folk, Baroque and classical traditions.

Since the release of their acclaimed self-titled debut in 2020, VARO have become a quietly vital presence in the contemporary folk scene, collaborating with some of Ireland’s most revered artists and performing at major festivals across Europe.

Their new album The World That I Knew, out in May 2025, is a collaborative, time-travelling exploration of shared human experience, weaving ancient songs with present-day resonance featuring Ian Lynch (Lankum), Junior Brother, Slow Moving Clouds, Niamh Bury, Inni-K, John Francis Flynn, Ruth Clinton and Cormac MacDiarmada (Landless/ Lankum/ Poor Creature), Anna Mieke, Lemoncello, Alannah Thornburgh, Branwen.

For Metronome Festival, VARO will perform a selection of their signature repertoire alongside songs from the new album, with special guest appearances from Niamh Bury, Anna Mieke, and Branwen.

Utilising the harp, voice, electronics and percussion, Méabh McKenna is a multi-instrumental sound artist based in Dublin city. Drawing on years of experimentation and collaboration, her live performances have evolved from traversing the eclectic worlds of traditional, classical, and early music, intuitively weaving them with contemporary and electronic elements. Her solo project forges a soundworld of mycelial improvisation and memory, connecting the ancient with the futuristic to make a music of resonance and reflection that’s entirely her own.
