Perspectives: Nils Frahm - Music for Dublin

The pioneering composer-producer-pianist performs his new project Music For Dublin in a two-night residency and curates a weekend of music by musicians he admires at NCH.

Part of a worldwide tour in which each show is dedicated to each city, Nils presents to Dublin brand-new material that moves between the worlds of experimental, neo-classical, ambient and electronica. Redefining the space between classical and electronic music, Nils Frahm’s unconventional approach to the piano, played contemplatively and intimately, and his sonic alchemy of ambient textures and atmospheric electronica, has won him many fans around the world. Nils has always had a home at the Barbican, selling out headline concerts since 2014 and curating a weekend of music, film and art in 2016’s Possibly Colliding. Nils has recently launched his own label LEITER with his manager Felix Grimm – and during the Covid-19 lockdown, they released Old Friends New Friends, a selection of solo piano tracks from twelve years of his archives.

We will announce the concert programme Nils curates for The Studio and Kevin Barry Recital Room at NCH in 2024.
