NCH Youth Choir Summer School
Thursday 11 July – Sunday 14 July inclusive
All days 10am-4pm
Course Director Ciarán Kelly
Accompanist: Fergal Caulfield
Tutors: Jennifer McMahon, Naoise Whearity, Victoria Warwick
An opportunity to get involved in choral singing at the highest level , this four -day course is open to young singers of all abilities, working with choral experts and learning repertoire which is both varied and challenging. There are no auditions, so less experienced singers can sign up for full participation in rehearsals, theory and vocal lessons, and look forward to a public showcase performance in the Studio of the National Concert Hall on Sunday 14th July, 3pm.
The Course is directed by Ciarán Kelly (choral director of NCH youth choir Cór Linn) alongside experienced musicians Jennifer McMahon, Naoise Whearity and Victoria Warwick, with Fergal Caulfield as resident accompanist.
In addition to working intensively on a concert programme, participants will gain experience in singing and conducting technique, explore musical theory elements such as Kódaly and develop their own choral technique.
Repertoire is exciting and varied, from Palestrina to Ola Gjielo, with even a bit of opera thrown in!
Sessions will be focussed but relaxed, with plenty of time for socialising and chat as well as rehearsals and tutorials.
The final day will end with a free performance for family and friends, at 3pm in the NCH Studio.
For any teenager who loves to sing, this course is a great introduction to the world of choral music!
Presented by NCH / Cór Linn, music director Ciarán Kelly
