Following the phenomenal success of last year’s sold out concert The Sound of Rodgers & Hammerstein, conductor Niall Kinsella returns to the National Concert Hall with The Sound of Hollywood, a dazzling concert celebrating 100 years of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios and its iconic musical films of the 1940s and 50s.

Joined by star vocalists Aoife Mulholland, Matt Ford and the Irish Studio Orchestra, this concert features iconic numbers from The Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain, Meet Me in St Louis, An American in Paris, Kiss Me, Kate, Brigadoon, High Society and Easter Parade.

Irish musical theatre star Aoife Mulholland shot to fame as one of the contestants in the hit BBC TV show How do you solve a problem like Maria?, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s search for the star of his new production of The Sound of Music at the London Palladium. A string of leading roles in the West End followed, including Roxie Hart in Chicago, Maria in The Sound of Music, Brooke Wyndham in Legally Blonde, and appearing in concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. 

Matt Ford is the UK’s most experienced and in-demand Swing Era vocalist.  A veteran of over 2000 Big Band concerts, Matt has also performed regularly with the BBC Concert Orchestra, Halle, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Philharmonia, John Wilson Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Scottish Symphony, RTÉ Concert Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.

The Irish Studio Orchestra is comprised of the finest orchestral musicians working in Ireland. The orchestra has recorded operas, movie soundtracks, TV show themes and have performed live with some of the biggest names in the music industry. Conductor Niall Kinsella has fast established himself as one of Ireland’s most dynamic, versatile and sought-after musicians. He has been described as “a meticulous collaborator” (BBC Music Magazine) and has performed extensively both in Ireland and across Europe.
