A deep dive into the piano and organ music of one of the world’s most influential composers, Philip Glass.

Following their sold-out Paris Philharmonie performance, Maki Namekawa (last seen at NCH performing the The Piano Etudes with Philip Glass) and acclaimed organist James McVinnie bring their revealing recital to the National Concert Hall.

Dance No. 4 is a driving, darkly romantic organ solo, the two Piano Études dramatic soliloquies, Mishima’s ‘Award Montage’ spellbinding, ‘companion pieces’ Distant Figure and Mad Rush intimate and cosmic statements.

Maki Namekawa is a leading figure among today’s pianists. As a soloist and chamber musician she is equally at home in core Classical works and the repertoire of our time. James McVinnie has carved out a unique career as an organist and keyboard player. He has had major concerto and solo works written for him by artist Martin Creed, Bryce Dessner, Hildur Guðnadóttir, and David Lang, amongst many others.
