Smetana ‘Vltava’ (Má Vlast)
Tchaikovsky Variations on a Rococo Theme
Shostakovich Symphony No. 10

Dreams of homeland, the past and new futures.

‘New cello genius’ (Le Figaro) Pablo Ferrández returns with Chief Conductor Jaime Martín for Tchaikovsky’s exquisitely eloquent, string-rich salute to the 18th century, the Variations on a Rococo Theme.

Smetana’s ‘Vltava’ from Má vlast pays homage to the mighty Moldau river with beguiling colour and character.

Shostakovich’s seething, granite-edged Tenth Symphony is a deeply personal response to Stalin’s death, a fierce, fervent declaration that tyranny holds no sway.
