Head of Finance

The National Concert Hall ("NCH") has the ambition to be one of the world’s great centres for music, a centre which will be a symbol of national pride for Irish people everywhere.

As it embarks on an ambitious, multi-million-euro capital redevelopment programme and receives the National Symphony Orchestra as part of a transition process from RTÉ, it seeks to recruit a Head of Finance to contribute to its on-going strategic and organisational development. This role will head up the Finance team of the NCH.

Emerging from the long hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic affords the organisation an opportunity to re-think not only its ambitious goals but the way in which the company’s values shape its future. NCH aspires to reflect what is new and best in Irish cultural life and that drives its aim for greater diversity and inclusivity in all activities.

The Role

With the transition of the NSO into its remit, the NCH will enter a period of significant expansion and change. The Head of Finance will drive the process to map out and form a cohesive finance strategy to incorporate this expansion. The Head of Finance will be expected to lead the Finance and ICT team and provide strategic support to the CEO, other members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and cross-functionally with the other departments that make up the NCH.

The role will be multi-faceted where your strong financial acumen will see you involved in both the day-to-day finance activities but also across strategy, planning and governance. You will be a trusted and very valued member of the SMT where your insights, decision making and leadership will help the NCH maintain excellent financial standards.

Competencies

To succeed in this role, you will have previous experience in a senior role in Finance while knowledge of public sector people management policies and practices will be an advantage.

You will have in-depth, up to date knowledge of financial reporting, management reporting, audit preparation, financial budgeting and forecasting and strong internal controls and risk awareness.

You will also have the following:

Professional Accounting Qualification and 5+ years experience in a senior finance role
Strong people management experience
Demonstratable experience of working at SMT level
Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills and be able to build relationships at all levels of the organisation. You will be partnering with a complex set of stakeholders to drive the financial success of the NCH
Commercial Acumen and the ability to identify opportunities for the NCH
A passion for music and culture would be advantageous

Key Information about this role

This is a full-time, permanent role and the position holder reports to the CEO and manages 4 direct reports.

Pay and Benefits

The Assistant Principal salary scale applies (rates effective from 1 October 2020) as follows:

The PPC (Personal Pension Contribution) pay scale will apply where the appointee is an existing civil or public servant appointed on or after 6th April 1995 and is required to make a personal pension contribution. It will also apply to new permanent employees and fixed term un-established employees.

€69,659 €72,268 €74,871 €77,483 €80,090 €81,593 €84,225 (LSI 1)*, €86,865 (LSI 2)*
*LSI 1 is Long service Increment after 3 years on Max of scale.
*LSI 2 is Long service increment after 6 years on Max of scale.
Please note that appointment will be made at the first point on this salary scale.
Pension – Membership of Single Public Service Pension Scheme.
The annual leave entitlement is 30 days per annum.
