Silent streets, venues, lives lead inside. We are still thinking about music and writing, still trying to use the arts to process what has happened.
Recorded live at NCH, this special second edition of Notes From a Quiet Land gathers some of Ireland's most exciting new female voices to reflect on our silent world.
This cast includes some of Ireland's most exciting artists. Maija Sofia’s debut album 'Bath Time' was widely lauded as 'the arrival of a unique new voice' (The Sunday Times) and was shortlisted for the Choice Award. Ailbhe Reddy’s debut Personal History is an intimate collection of songs that ruminate on the rites of passage as a young, emerging, queer artist from Dublin. 22-year old pop rap artist Bobbi Arlo is quickly garnering attention with a number of hit singles including her current release Feel It. Over the last two years, Sorcha Richardson has established herself as one of Ireland’s leading songwriters with her Choice nominated debut, First Prize Bravery.
Liz Nugent is a writer of award-winning psychological suspense novels Unraveling Oliver (2014), Lying in Wait (2016), Skin Deep (2018) and Little Cruelties (2020). All four books topped the Irish bestsellers list and Liz has won multiple literary awards. Jessica Traynor is a poet, librettist and creative writing teacher. Her debut collection, Liffey Swim (Dedalus Press, 2014), was shortlisted for the Strong/Shine Award. Her second collection, The Quick, was a 2019 Irish Times poetry choice. Aoife Martin is a trans woman an activist. She has written for the Irish Times, Huffington Post and Image Magazine. She is currently a regular columnist for The Journal. Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi is a Lagos-born, Galway-raised and Dublin-based writer, editor, spoken-word performer and arts facilitator.
