Sandra Oman, soprano
Niall Kinsella, piano
Renowned soprano Sandra Oman performs a programme of French art-songs in a recital that is sure to transport you to the Paris of bygone years. Embracing her love of French music, Sandra, with pianist Niall Kinsella, explore songs by Reynaldo Hahn, Erik Satie, Francis Poulenc and others. Focusing particularly on early 20th-Century French songs, the programme showcases the melting pot of musical influences at this time, which combined older musical traditions with new sounds and modes of expression.
Considered one of the finest sopranos of her generation, Sandra Oman is no stranger to audiences in Ireland through countless performances at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, a string of frequent opera appearances, and her two recently released #1 albums, Liberty & Noël. Sandra was the 2004 recipient of the Margaret Burke Sheridan Memorial Award for her contribution to opera in Ireland. She has over 30 opera roles to her credit from Mozart to Puccini and Donizetti to Andre Previn.
Irish pianist Niall Kinsella studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna and at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin, completing his studies in Lieder accompaniment at the Franz-Schubert-Institut, in Baden-be-Wien, Austria, and at the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University, Salzburg. His debut CD “The Complete Songs & Airs of John F. Larchet” will be released internationally on Champs Hill Records (UK) this year, and his second CD, of Schubert lieder, for Austrian label Gramola Klassik is also due for international release. Niall is Artistic Director of Irish Songmakers.
