Selection of European Carols

Following the sell-out success of last year’s concert, the Goethe Choir returns to the NCH to complete the cycle of Christmas Oratorio cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach.  The program is complemented by a selection of well-loved European carols including the traditional ‘Stille Nacht’ in three languages. The choir will also present the rarely heard in Ireland 1952 motet ‘Hodie Christus Natus Est’ by French composer Francis Poulenc, a member of a somewhat notorious group of young French composers who became known as ‘Les Six’.

Alison Browner, an Irish mezzo-soprano now based in Germany and a former member of the choir, joins forces with her daughter, soprano Hannah Gries.
