Female Conductor Programme Finale
RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra
Haydn Symphony 104
Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings
The NCH, Grant Thornton and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra are delighted to present the Finale of the Female Conductor Programme. Renowned British conductor and Artistic Director of the Programme, Alice Farnham, will lead the participants in this finale event with the RTÉ NSO.
In this insightful and significant event, the curtain will be raised on the workings of conductors and orchestras in preparing a symphony for performance.
Supported by Grant Thornton, the National Concert Hall’s Female Conductor Programme aims to take steps in redressing the enduring gender imbalance in orchestral conducting through an innovative programme designed to coach, mentor, encourage and promote talented female musicians at the outset of their conducting careers.
Artistic Director Alice Farnham had guided the participants through the last 20 months in a series of master classes and tutorials, both in person and online, enabling the promising composers to develop and hone their skills despite a crushing pandemic. Tonight we explore with the RTÉ NSO one of the most memorable pieces of classical music and celebrate the culmination of the hard work of all of the participants.
This event will also be live streamed on NCH YouTube
