Yundi ‘Prince of Piano’ to perform all-Chopin programme at the National Concert Hall

Chinese superstar pianist Yundi will perform a dazzling all-Chopin programme at the National Concert Hall on Thursday 21st April at 8pm as part of his sell-out Chopin World Tour.

For this performance Yundi will perform Chopin’s four Ballades and 24 Preludes, Opus 28 – an opportunity to hear some of the most exquisite music ever written for the piano.

Yundi is considered a leading exponent of Chopin’s music, ever since he was catapulted onto the world stage when he won first prize at the 14th Chopin International Piano Competition at the age of eighteen – the youngest winner in the history of the renowned competition.  He returned as a juror member of this competition last year.
Yundi’s current tour includes recitals in Canada, Moscow, New York’s Carnegie Hall and all over Europe including Germany, France, Switzerland and the UK.

He has an extensive discography on Deutsche Grammophon and EMI Classics, and his most recent releases on Deutsche Grammophon include the complete Chopin preludes and a further disc featuring Chopin’s Ballades and Mazurkas.


The National Concert Hall’s International Concert Series 2015/2016 continues on Wednesday 4th May with a recital by the outstanding violinist Maxim Vengerov with Roustem Saïtkoulov on piano. The series will conclude with the inaugural Irish performance of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra under French conductor Hervé Niquet and pianist Barry Douglas on Tuesday 31st May at 8pm.
