Award Winning Artists Mark Padmore and Paul Lewis Perform Afternoon Recital at the National Concert Hall
On Sunday 22nd November tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Paul Lewis will perform Schubert’s sublime early masterpiece Die Schöne Müllerin as part of the National Concert Hall’s Sunday Matinée Series 2015.Mark Padmore has received international acclaim for his performances in opera, particularly his role as Evangelist in the Bach St Matthew and St John Passions with the Berlin Philharmonic and Sir Simon Rattle. He appears in concert regularly with some of the world’s leading orchestras and amongst other accolades has just been awarded Vocalist of the Year by Musical America Awards.
In turn, Paul Lewis is regarded as one of the leading musicians of his generation, both in recital and as soloist with orchestra. A multi-prize winning artist, he is considered one of the foremost interpreters of European classical repertoire, particularly piano works by Beethoven and Schubert.
Mark Padmore and Paul Lewis have performed together regularly and have recorded the three Schubert Song Cycles for Harmonia Mundi. Their performance of Die Schöne Müllerin on November 22nd presents a perfect partnership of voice and piano through a tale of love, longing and despair.
